Can I take an olympiad without my school registering?
Yes. Most olympiad bodies require your school to enrol you, but NextGen Olympiad lets a parent register a child directly — no school code, no coordinator.
Why do most olympiads need the school to register me?
Most Indian olympiad bodies — SOF among them — operate through a school coordinator. The school collects entries, pays as a block and receives the papers, which is efficient for the organiser and simple for a participating school.
The side effect is that a student whose school does not take part has no route in at all, however much they want to sit the exam. That is not a rule about the student; it is a consequence of how the administration is arranged.
How does a parent register a child directly?
Pick a slot, enter the student's details, pay, and download the hall ticket. There is no school code and no coordinator involved.
You choose an online slot or a centre near you at the point of registration, so a student whose school does not participate is not restricted to one format.
Is a directly registered student treated differently?
No. The paper, the timing, the marking and the national leaderboard are identical. Registration route does not affect the result or the ranking.
What if my school also registers me for other olympiads?
That is fine and fairly common. A school entry for SOF or NSTSE and a direct entry for NextGen Olympiad are independent of each other, and there is no conflict in sitting both.
What do I need before I start?
The student's name, class and a contact email or phone number. You do not need school documentation, a school code, or a letter from a coordinator.
